Ms. Munive Named FCPS Region 4 Outstanding Secondary Teacher!
Ms. Lopez and Ms. Gaston Also Recognized at FCPS Honors
Congratulations to ESOL Teacher Katie Munive who was recognized at the annual FCPS Honors event as the 2019 Region 4 Outstanding Secondary Teacher and one of six finalists for this year's Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award!
Ms. Munive knows it is a privilege and a great responsibility to be an educator. Her patient, kind, and caring personality foster self-efficacy and resilience in a supportive environment that nurtures students’ development, engagement in tasks, and the importance of becoming a life-long learner. Listening to students, she adjusts instructional methods, modifies assessments, and uses technology to develop their intelligence. She cautions, though the world may appear punitive and unrelenting, it doesn’t need to be so. Empowering oneself to see challenges as opportunities to incorporate a Growth Mindset and using critical thinking skills, solutions can be found. Ms. Munive hopes her students will always operate under Jung’s adage,“ I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become.”
Congratulations also to the other Mountain View High School staff members recognized at FCPS Honors!
