The Reading Buddies program at Mountain View is a partnership with Colin Powell Elementary School where our students partner with third graders to promote a culture of reading and improve reading and on line skills. It becomes a mentor program and students form meaningful and exciting relationships with their buddies. It is a perfect demonstration of education as a community effort. It is evident that our students greatly benefit from this experience, perhaps even more so than the Colin Powell students.  The program helps our students learn about the power of giving back to others and it helps them foster a love and appreciation for reading aloud with young children.  Not only does Reading Buddies help our students become better citizens, it will help them to be better parents.
